Winks From Heaven #2 From The Heart

Synchronicity of the universe can sometimes take my breath away.  This week I finished the first draft of my most recent novel, “Now That You’ve Gone”.  Among the many themes I explored in this love story was the mysteries of heart transplants. I have read that when someone receives the donor heart in the transplantation process sometimes the characteristics of the donor become part of the recipient’s new lease on life.  Food cravings, the arts, sports, music, that the recipient never liked prior now become something they crave and ultimately enjoy.

More amazingly are the emotions that can be transported through the heart, yes, even love remains and can be felt.  What do you do when your heart is taken from you and replaced with someone else’s, (many patients actually report periods of great depression after heart transplant surgery). What do you do with someone else heart, someone else’s love? How do you integrate this love into your new lease on life? The bonds of love are never broken, love is truly eternal.

So here’s where heaven winked at me last night.  Sitting in a quaint Thai restaurant of perhaps only ten tables a husband and wife come in and the conversation begins with his recovery from his recent heart transplant surgery. Wow! Really? How amazing is that? Of course I wanted to go over and talk to him, but I thought perhaps better of that notion.  It was enough that in my small, small world, as I rarely go out, and I mean rarely, that at that moment, the universe would send me an affirmation of my work, another wink indeed from heaven.
